Anushay At SXSW: Women Should Not Die In Childbirth

Such a large part of my early career was spent as an activist & feminist policy analyst on women’s health & rights. So it was so powerful and meaningful to return to my professional roots as moderator of Every Mother Counts’ “Giving Birth In America” panel at SXSW in Austin, Texas.

The five-part documentary series, “Giving Birth in America” examines the issues that have contributed to the maternal health crisis in the United States, where women are more likely to die from pregnancy and childbirth than in any other developed country.

It was an honor to be on the panel and share the stage with Every Mother Counts Founder, Christy Turlington Burns, Secretary of the Louisiana Department of Health, Dr. Rebekah Gee, and Florida-based midwife, Jennie Joseph.
